Community Standards

Last updated: May 22, 2026

Alvro is a community of real people sharing real cars. These standards describe what we expect from every renter and every host — and what we'll do when those standards aren't met.

01Our community principles

Alvro works because thousands of renters and hosts treat each other like neighbors. These standards capture what we expect from everyone on the platform.

  • Be honest. Accurate listings, accurate reviews, no surprises.
  • Be respectful. Treat every person and every vehicle with care.
  • Be responsive. Reply to messages quickly and show up on time.
  • Be safe. Follow the rules of the road and report problems early.

02What we expect from renters

  • Show up on time for pickup and return; communicate if plans change.
  • Treat the car like your own — drive carefully and keep it tidy.
  • Return the car at the agreed time, place, fuel level, and cleanliness.
  • Report any damage, accident, or mechanical issue immediately.
  • Leave honest, constructive reviews after every trip.
  • Never let an unapproved driver behind the wheel.

03What we expect from hosts

  • Keep listings accurate — photos, features, mileage, and availability.
  • Confirm bookings promptly and arrive on time for the handoff.
  • Deliver the car clean, fueled or charged, and in safe working order.
  • Respond to messages within a few hours during normal waking hours.
  • Honor every booking you accept; cancel only as a last resort.
  • Handle reviews and disputes professionally — even when it's hard.

04Non-discrimination

Discrimination has no place on Alvro. Refusing a booking, canceling a trip, or treating a user differently based on race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic is grounds for removal from the platform.

05Service animals

Service animals are welcome on every Alvro trip. A host must accept a rider's service animal regardless of the vehicle's pet policy, and no pet fee may be charged for a service animal — declining a booking or adding a pet fee because of a service animal is a form of disability discrimination under our non-discrimination standard.

Normal cleaning fees still apply if a service animal leaves the car needing more than routine cleaning, the same as for any other guest. Emotional-support animals (ESAs) are not service animals and are treated as pets, subject to the host's pet policy and any pet fee.

06Communication & messaging

Keep trip-related communication on Alvro so we can help if something comes up. Never share contact details to take a booking off-platform — doing so puts your account, payments, and trip protection at risk.

07Reviews

Reviews are how trust gets built. Always leave a review honestly based on your own experience, and never:

  • Offer or accept compensation in exchange for a review.
  • Coordinate retaliatory or coordinated reviews.
  • Threaten a poor review to extract concessions.

Reviews are double-blind: neither your review nor the other party's is published until both have been submitted, or a set review window closes — whichever comes first. Neither side sees the other's review before writing their own.

Alvro may remove reviews that violate this policy and may suspend accounts that repeatedly try to manipulate the review system.

08Enforcement

Violations of these standards can result in warnings, restricted features, canceled trips, or removal from Alvro. Serious or repeated violations — discrimination, harassment, fraud, endangering safety — result in immediate removal. See the Acceptable Use Policy for details.

09How to report a problem

Report a user, listing, or trip from the relevant page in the app, or email trust@alvro.com. In an emergency, call 911 first and then notify Alvro.
