Host Agreement
Last updated: June 8, 2026
This Host Agreement sets out what it means to host on Alvro — the definitions, eligibility, listing, pricing, trip, protection, maintenance, reimbursement, tax, termination, and dispute-resolution terms that apply when you share a car on Alvro.
01Overview
This Host Agreement (the “Agreement”) is a binding contract between you (the “Host,” “you,” or “your”) and Alvro. It governs how you list and share a vehicle on the Alvro marketplace. By listing a vehicle, accepting a booking, or selecting “Become a host,” you agree to this Agreement in addition to Alvro's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, the Fee Schedule, and the marketplace policies published at /policies, which are incorporated here by reference. If this Agreement conflicts with the Terms of Service on a host-specific topic, this Agreement controls.
Hosting is a commitment to other members of the Alvro community. These terms exist to keep the marketplace safe, reliable, and fair for the guests who book your car and for every other host.
02Definitions
- “Trip” — a confirmed reservation of your vehicle by a guest, from the scheduled start to the scheduled end.
- “Guest” — an Alvro member who books and is approved to drive your vehicle for a Trip.
- “Listing” — the vehicle profile you publish, including photos, description, location, availability, and price.
- “Protection plan” — the host earnings plan you select, which sets your earnings share and your damage responsibility (deductible) for eligible Trips.
- “Check-in / check-out” — the documented handoff of the vehicle to and from the guest, including condition photos and fuel or charge level.
- “Reimbursement” — an eligible charge passed to a guest after a Trip (for example tolls, refueling, cleaning, or approved damage).
03Host & vehicle eligibility
To list a car on Alvro, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter contracts.
- You own the vehicle or are otherwise authorized to share it for rental.
- At the time of listing, the vehicle is no more than 15 years old and has fewer than 200,000 miles.
- The vehicle has current registration and a valid personal insurance policy in the jurisdiction where it is listed.
- The vehicle is located in one of Alvro's active U.S. service areas at the time of listing.
Some vehicles are not eligible regardless of age or mileage — see Prohibited vehicles & uses. Salvage- and rebuilt-title vehicles may be listed; repairs are covered in full above the deductible, and on a total loss the payout is capped at 70% of the vehicle's actual cash value. Alvro may decline, suspend, or remove any listing that does not meet these standards, and may require documentation to verify eligibility.
Business and entity hosts. You may host through a company or other legal entity if that entity is the vehicle's legal owner or is authorized to share it. The payout bank account must be in the entity's name, and the entity's EIN must match its IRS legal name for tax reporting. An individual who manages the account must still complete personal identity verification.
Service areas. Alvro operates in a defined and growing set of U.S. service areas — Idaho and Oregon at launch, with additional areas added over time. A vehicle may be listed only if it is located in an active Alvro service area; the areas available when you create or edit a listing are the current ones.
04Your account & verification
You must register an account with accurate information and keep it current. To protect the community, Alvro may verify your identity, your authority to list the vehicle, and the vehicle's documentation before or after you publish a Listing.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure.
- One person may not maintain multiple host accounts to evade verification, suspension, or these terms.
- By listing or delivering a vehicle, you certify that you hold a valid, non-suspended driver's license and meet the same acceptable-driving-record standard that applies to renters under the Terms of Service.
- You authorize Alvro to run identity, eligibility, and (where permitted) background or driving-record checks consistent with our Privacy Policy.
05Co-hosts
You may invite a co-host to help operate your listings — for example to handle handoffs, cleaning, or guest messages. Co-hosting does not change who is responsible under this Agreement: you remain the host.
- Each co-host must have their own verified Alvro account — you may not share your login.
- Certain actions are owner-only and cannot be delegated: creating or removing listings, setting the payout bank account, and managing tax information.
- Alvro does not split payouts between a host and a co-host. All earnings are paid to the owner's payout account; any arrangement to compensate a co-host is between you and them.
06Listing your vehicle
Your Listing must be truthful, complete, and your own. You control your Listing, and you agree to:
- Use accurate photos and descriptions — current images of the actual vehicle, with its true make, model, year, trim, color, mileage, features, and condition. No stock or misleading imagery.
- Keep availability honest — only mark dates available when the car can actually be booked, and keep your calendar current.
- Set a clear pickup location — an accurate address or area, and any delivery options you offer (see Delivery).
- Disclose material facts — mileage limits, pet or smoking rules, known mechanical issues, and any aftermarket modifications that affect a Trip.
You grant Alvro a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and promote your Listing content on and off the platform for the purpose of operating and marketing the marketplace.
07Pricing, fees & earnings
You set your nightly price and any add-ons. Alvro may offer optional pricing tools, but the price is always yours to control. For each Trip:
- Alvro collects payment from the guest and pays you your earnings — the trip price plus eligible reimbursements, minus the Alvro host service fee.
- Your earnings share is set by the protection plan you choose, and is disclosed before you publish and on every booking.
- Earnings are released after the Trip ends, typically within 24 hours, to your verified payout method on file (bank account or a supported provider).
- Adjustments may apply for cancellations, refunds, tolls, late returns, or approved damage under the Refunds & Disputes policy.
08The Trip: check-in, check-out & condition
A safe, well-documented handoff protects both you and your guest. For every Trip you agree to:
- Honor the schedule — Trips start and end at the agreed times. Check-in opens up to 24 hours before the scheduled start, and start and end times fall on 30-minute increments.
- Document condition — take clear check-in and check-out photos showing the vehicle's exterior, interior, and fuel or charge level. These photos are the basis for any later reimbursement or damage claim.
- Deliver the car as listed — clean, safe to drive, with the agreed fuel or charge level and any included accessories.
- Respect mileage and use terms — apply only the limits disclosed in your Listing, and charge overage only as disclosed.
If you hand off the car below the fuel or charge level stated in your Listing, the guest only needs to return it at the level they actually received, and Alvro may credit the guest for the shortfall.
A guest may be on only one Trip at a time. Do not ask a guest to transact, pay, or extend a Trip off-platform; all bookings, payments, and changes must run through Alvro.
09Delivery
Delivery is optional. If you offer it, you set the delivery locations and any per-mile or flat fees in your Listing, and Alvro computes the delivery fee shown to the guest at checkout. When you accept a Trip with delivery, you agree to deliver and collect the vehicle at the agreed place and time, in the condition described above. Delivery does not change your obligations under the rest of this Agreement.
10Cancellations
Confirmed Trips are a commitment. You agree to honor bookings and to minimize cancellations.
- Guest cancellations are refunded under Alvro's Cancellation Policy — generally a full refund when cancelled more than 24 hours before the scheduled start, and a partial refund within 24 hours.
- Host cancellations harm guests and the marketplace. Repeated or last-minute host cancellations may result in fees, reduced visibility, or removal, and Alvro may assist the guest in rebooking.
- Alvro may cancel a Trip for safety, fraud, verification, or policy reasons, and will communicate the reason where appropriate.
11Protection plans & insurance
When you list, you choose a protection (earnings) plan that sets both your earnings share and your damage responsibility for eligible Trips. Higher protection means a lower deductible and a lower earnings share; lower protection means a higher deductible and a higher earnings share:
- Premium — you keep 70% of trip earnings; your damage responsibility (deductible) is $750.
- Standard — you keep 80% of trip earnings; your damage responsibility is $1,500.
- Basic — you keep 90% of trip earnings; your damage responsibility is $3,000.
Eligible Trips booked through Alvro include third-party liability coverage of up to $1,000,000 and contractual reimbursement for physical damage and theft above your selected deductible, up to the vehicle's actual cash value, subject to the full terms in our Insurance & Protection terms. Coverage applies only to eligible Alvro Trips and only when this Agreement is followed. It does not replace your personal auto policy, and you remain responsible for use outside a covered Trip.
12Insurance & registration
You must keep the vehicle's registration current and maintain a valid personal insurance policy for the entire time it is listed, and you must provide proof on request. You are responsible for any liability arising from use outside a covered Alvro Trip and for keeping your documentation accurate and up to date. Listing a vehicle you are not legally permitted to share, or that lacks valid registration or insurance, is a material breach of this Agreement.
For every Trip you also agree to:
- Keep the vehicle's current registration and proof of insurance in the car for the guest to carry during the Trip.
- Before releasing the keys, verify the driver — confirm the person taking the car is the booked, verified guest (and any added drivers), and that the name on the license matches the booking.
13Maintenance, safety & recalls
You are responsible for keeping your vehicle safe and roadworthy for every Trip. You agree to:
- Stay current on manufacturer-recommended service, tires, brakes, and fluids.
- Address open safety recalls promptly and not list a vehicle with an unrepaired safety recall or a known unsafe condition.
- Ensure required safety equipment is present and functional, and that warning lights are resolved before a Trip.
- Remove the vehicle from availability when it is not safe to drive.
14Cleanliness & vehicle condition
Present the vehicle clean inside and out for every Trip, free of trash, strong odors, and personal items. Excessive cleaning needs caused by a guest may be eligible for reimbursement (see below), but routine between-trip cleaning is the host's responsibility. Persistent cleanliness or condition complaints may affect your standing on the platform.
15Reimbursements, incidentals & damage claims
After a Trip you may request eligible reimbursements from the guest through Alvro. Common reimbursements include tolls and tickets, refueling or recharging, additional cleaning, and approved damage. To keep claims fair:
- Submit requests within the applicable window. Issue types have their own deadlines — for example, late-return and not-returned issues have shorter reporting windows than cleaning or smoking violations.
- Support every request with evidence — your check-in and check-out photos, receipts, and a clear description.
- Damage claims above your deductible are handled under the protection plan and the Refunds & Disputes policy. Alvro may request additional documentation and may decline unsupported or fraudulent claims.
Submitting false or inflated reimbursement or damage claims is a serious violation and may result in reversal, removal from the platform, and other remedies.
16Prohibited vehicles & uses
You may not list or use the platform to:
- List a stolen or unsafe vehicle, or one with an unrepaired safety recall.
- List a vehicle you do not own or are not authorized to share, or one subject to a lease or loan that prohibits rental without consent.
- Misrepresent the vehicle, your identity, or your insurance, or tamper with odometers or condition records.
- Arrange off-platform payments, discriminate against guests, or use the platform for any unlawful purpose.
- Take back, disable, or remotely immobilize the vehicle during an active Trip, or use a tracking device to surveil or harass a guest. Recovery of a vehicle is coordinated with Alvro and, where appropriate, law enforcement — never by self-help repossession.
17Taxes
You are responsible for determining and paying any taxes owed on your hosting income, and for any applicable vehicle, rental, or local taxes. Alvro may collect and remit certain taxes where required by law and may issue tax documents (such as a 1099 in the United States) where required. Nothing in this Agreement is tax advice; consult a professional about your situation.
18Reviews & feedback
After each Trip, hosts and guests may leave reviews. Reviews must be honest and based on the actual Trip. You may not offer incentives for positive reviews, retaliate for honest feedback, or manipulate ratings. Alvro may remove reviews that violate our content standards.
19Community standards & non-discrimination
Alvro is a community built on trust. Hosts are expected to treat every guest with respect, host without discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics, and to maintain the safety and quality standards that members rely on. Behavior that endangers guests, misrepresents a vehicle, harasses members, or repeatedly disrupts Trips may result in suspension or removal.
20Host obligations summary
In short, as an Alvro Host you agree to:
- Keep the car clean and well-maintained — current on service, safe to drive, and presented clean for every Trip.
- List accurately — truthful photos, description, mileage, features, and availability. No bait-and-switch.
- Communicate promptly — respond to booking requests and guest messages in a timely, professional manner.
- Honor confirmed bookings — make the vehicle available as agreed and minimize cancellations.
- Follow Alvro's standards — comply with this Agreement, the community rules, and all applicable laws.
21Suspension & termination
You may remove your Listings or close your host account at any time, subject to honoring Trips already confirmed. Alvro may suspend or terminate your hosting privileges, remove a Listing, or withhold payouts if you breach this Agreement, create a safety or fraud risk, or violate the community rules or the law. Where practical and lawful, Alvro will give notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including payment obligations, reimbursements, liability, indemnity, and dispute resolution — survive.
22Representations & warranties
You represent and warrant that you have the right to enter this Agreement and to share the vehicle; that the vehicle is owned by you or listed with the owner's authorization; that it has valid registration and insurance and meets the eligibility standards above; that your Listing is accurate; and that you and anyone acting on your behalf hold the permits, licenses, and insurance required by law.
23Disclaimers, liability & indemnity
The platform is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Alvro disclaims implied warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, and Alvro's aggregate liability arising out of the platform is limited as set out in the Terms of Service.
You are responsible for the condition and legality of your vehicle and for accurately representing it. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold Alvro harmless from claims, losses, and expenses arising from your breach of this Agreement, the condition or operation of your vehicle, your taxes, or your use of the platform outside its intended purpose.
24Dispute resolution & governing law
Most issues can be resolved quickly through the Help Center. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, you and Alvro agree to resolve it as described in the Terms of Service, which may include binding individual arbitration and a waiver of class proceedings where permitted by law, and which set out the governing law and venue. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking relief for the protection of intellectual property or in small-claims court where available.
25Changes to this Agreement
Alvro may update this Agreement from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date, and material changes will be communicated before they take effect. Your continued hosting after an update means you accept the revised Agreement.
26Acceptance
By selecting “Become a host” during onboarding, or by listing a vehicle on Alvro, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this Host Agreement, the community rules, and the payout terms above. Questions? Reach us anytime through the Help Center.
