Mileage & Fuel Policy

Hosts set a daily mileage limit for their cars, and renters return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel or charge it had at pickup. This policy explains exactly how that works — including what fees apply when limits are exceeded.

Hosts choose a daily mileage limit between 100 and 500 miles per day, or unlimited mileage. The trip's total mileage limit is the daily limit multiplied by the trip length. You'll see the limit clearly on every listing and at checkout.

Common limits:

• 200 miles/day — typical city and short trips.
• 250 miles/day — most weekend road trips.
• Unlimited — best for long road trips; check listings.

Hosts set a per-mile overage fee, typically $0.25 – $1.00 per mile beyond the trip's total mileage limit. The exact rate is shown on the listing and on your trip details.

Overage fees are calculated at the trip end based on the odometer reading recorded in the post-trip photo. They're charged automatically to the renter's payment method and paid out to the host.

Return the car with the same fuel level it had at pickup. The fuel level is recorded in the pre-trip photo on both sides. If the car is returned with less fuel:

• Refueling charge: the actual cost of the fuel needed to bring the tank back to its pickup level, plus a $20 refueling fee for the host's time.

Return EVs with the same battery percentage they had at pickup, give or take 10%. If the car is returned with less than the required charge:

• Recharge charge: the actual cost to bring the battery back to its pickup level, plus a $50 recharge fee for the host's time.
• Low-battery fee: $20 if the car is returned below 20% state of charge, since it can't be re-booked until it's charged.

Tolls, tickets, and citations from your trip are your responsibility. Like a refueling charge, the host submits them for reimbursement within the reporting window after the trip, and Alvro passes the amount through to the payment method on file. A small administrative fee may apply to tickets and citations. Alvro does not operate a separate tolls feature — everything runs through the host-submitted reimbursement flow.

• Mileage overage when the host failed to disclose the mileage limit at booking.
• Refueling or recharging beyond the level recorded at pickup.
• Cleaning fees for normal driving dust or light interior dirt.
